langsam - aber Strickt

Sagte ich eigentlich schon, wie beeindruckend ich die Schleife finde? Jedesmal wieder. Allein das wäre schon ein Grund, alljährlich die Verwandtschaft zu besuchen. Die Schleife, gebaut, weil der bereits bestehende Bahnhof zu nah am Kanal war. Und weil man halt damals so Kram gebaut hat. Den ich immer wieder faszinierend finde. Besonders, wenn er - im Gegensatz zu, sagen wir mal, berühmten Aussichtstürmen zum Beispiel - auch noch einem praktischen Zweck dient. Was wiederum nicht heißt, dass ich von eben jenem Turm weniger fasziniert wäre, wenn ich denn endlich mal hinkäme. Und bevor ich endgültig ins Faseln verfalle, natürlich unbedingt nochmal der Hinweis auf die Schwebefähre, die an der Hochbrücke über den Kanal hängt - als Schwebefähre eh schon etwas Besonders, aber als Eisenbahnbrücke, an der gleichzeitig eine Fährbühne hängt, ein echtes Unikum.

Did I mention how impressive the Rendsburg railway loop is? Each time anew. Would absolutely suffice as a reason to visit my relative here every year. I'm really fascinated by those remnants of civil engineering at the turn of the twentieth century, all the more when they actually do have a practical function (in contrast to certain famous look-out towers, for example. Although I'm sure I'd find that pretty fascinating, too, if I'd finally get there). And I have to point once more to the part of the loop that crosses the canal: a transporter bridge, as such quite rare anyway - but as a ferry suspended from a bridge with rails on the upside really a unique.
